I’ve always loved steamed egg dishes. Growing up, my grandma was the master of cooking this ground pork, duck egg, steamed egg dish, that was a favourite for everyone. There’s something about the silky smooth savoury custard like dish that makes my tummy smile. 

The Japanese have their own version of the steamed egg dish and it’s called chawanmushi. It’s full of delicious ingredients like shrimp and fish cakes and veggies and more! Massaged Mango Kale Salad

 Summer barbecues, vacation food spoils, sometimes those few months in the summer have the power to throw off our whole diet. One superfood to help get  your system back on track is kale. Kale can have a tendency to taste harsh and raw but I found that massaging the kale with olive oil can really help to tenderize the kale. 

Recipe: Massaged Mango Kale Salad

  • 1 bunch kale 
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 2 tsp honey

 Long time no see! I’ve missed you all! I’ve been on hiatus for the last month or so, traversing through Italy, Vienna and Budapest, heading to church retreat to witness my boyfriend being baptized and jetting off again to attend the Calgary Stampede for the first time.  Sometimes it’s difficult to cook for just one. You get an itch, want to bake and often times recipes are for 4-6 servings (of which I along am not). Asparagus with Poached Egg

 One of my all-time favourite novels is Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Sometimes I like to close my eyes and imagine that I’m savoring pistachio gelato in Italy with her, experiencing the sereneness of the ashram in India or riding through the rice paddies in Bali to visit the all-knowing Ketut.
