Nachos in a Jar

Oh-so-very-pretty-nachos-13 copy

This week is an extra delicious week for the blog because Kay has made another delicious appetizer – Nachos in a jar! So as you all know, I have an immeasurable amount of mason jars sitting around the house and we decided to make use of them (again, I know) for a delicious snack like these!

  • Crushed Tortilla chips (I used chickpea tortilla chips)
  • Yogurt
  • 1 Whole Avocado
  • Shredded cheese (I used tex-mex)
  • Jalapenos (optional)
  • 1 Lime
  • A bunch of cherry tomatoes
  • Mango, diced

What I love about Kay’s appetizer recipes is that they’re so easy to make … Read more

Baked Blueberry Oatmeal in a Jar

Sometimes it’s difficult to cook for just one. You get an itch, want to bake and often times recipes are for 4-6 servings (of which I along am not). Sure you can gift people and bless people with the goodness of home-baked goodness, but sometimes the goodies go bad before you even see your gift-ees.

One day I craved baked oatmeal in a mason jar. The perfect personal hand-held size to hold just the perfect amount of wholesome, blueberry, whole-grain goodness to get your engine going for a perfectly awesome day. Sarah of Sprouted Kitchen had a great recipe for … Read more

Kale Apple Tofu Miso Salad

  • High in Vitamin C & A
  • A great detox food
  • High in calcium

As you can see there are many, many, many reasons why you should eat kale. The only unfortunate thing is that sometimes it can take a little bit of time to adjust to the taste and texture of kale. When Eric first tried this salad he winced … Read more

Lemon Coconut Cupcake in a Jar

Oh-So-Very-Pretty-Lemon-Coconut-Cupcake-in-a-Jar-19 copy Whenever I go snowboarding in Whistler, I always head up to 7th heaven. Aside from seeing such a stunning view of the mountains (and being on top of one), one thing I absolutely look forward to is eating the lemon poppyseed loaf at the cafe. For some peculiar reason, it just tastes sooo good. Not sure if it’s because I’m hungry and exhausted snowboarding (and falling), or the view, or it’s just so amazingly awesome. So, I’ve always hoped that I could make them as good at the least, but I’ve fallen short a couple of times now.  But, I … Read more

Vancouver Farmers Market + Cooking Attempt

OhSoVeryPretty-Farmers-Market-Vancouver-10 copy

If you’ve been following our blog closely, you’ll notice that one of us definitely has “green cooking thumb” – and that’s Sheryl. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve attempted to create a recipe/cooking post, and have mailed miserably. But yes, yes, I know cooking is definitely a good (and delicious) skill to have. So, I’ll share today’s attempt as well as my quick visit to the Vancouver Farmers Market.

What’s great about heading to the Vancouver Farmers Market is that you can get fresh organic produce / local products at a reasonable cost. Since spring just started, … Read more
